Your group's recent work on high-throughput screening of defect-passivating ligands for halide perovskites connects directly to my master's research, and I am writing to ask about PhD openings for 2027.
At Sharif University of Technology, my M.Sc. thesis in physical chemistry used DFT to screen 48 candidate ammonium-based passivators for surface iodide vacancies in FAPbI3. Three candidates showed binding energies and predicted trap-depth reductions strong enough that an experimental partner group synthesized films with our top pick, measuring a 60-nanosecond improvement in carrier lifetime. The joint paper is in preparation, with the computational half — mine — complete. What drew me to your group specifically is your descriptor-based approach to ligand generality across compositions; my screening produced early evidence for one of the electronic descriptors your recent paper proposes, from an independent dataset.
